Scottish Vocational Qualifications

SVQ’s (Scottish Vocational Qualifications) give you a focused, on-the-job context for training and developing your staff. They are an excellent way of making sure that your staff development programmes and your business strategy go hand-in hand.

To gain an SVQ in care you will be assessed in your normal work place performing familiar tasks to the required standards. ??SVQ Health and Social Care Level 2 ?SVQ Health and Social Care Level 3 Adults and Children and Young People ?SVQ Health and Social Care Level 4 Adults and Children and Young People ?Leadership and Management for Care Services Level 4 ???ILA Funding can be used towards the cost of your SVQ.

Level 2

The SVQ in Health and Social Care Level 2 is for carers who are concerned directly with care of clients. You should be working in an environment where you can be observed as you carry out your day to day activities. Candidates should have experience within a care setting. Health and Social Care Level 2 consists of 6 units, 4 of which are Mandatory and a further 2 units are chosen from the Optional group to suit your job remit

Level 3

The SVQ in Health and Social Care Level 3 is designed for carers who are working as supervisors or team leaders concerned directly with care of clients. You should be working in an environment where you can be observed as you carry out your day to day activities. Health and Social Care Level 3 consists of 6 units, 4 of which are Mandatory and a further 4 units are chosen from the Optional group to suit your job remit. ??To view Level 3 units click here

Level 4

The SVQ in Health and Social Care Level 4 is designed for carers who are concerned directly with care of clients. You should be working in an environment where you can be observed as you carry out your day to day activities.

To achieve the SVQ level 4, candidates are required to complete EIGHT Units, four Mandatory Units, and four Optional Units.

Leadership and Management for Care Services Level 4

The Leadership and Management for Care Services level 4 programme is a qualification for managers in the Care sector who want to offer improved service to their customers and clients. You might be: a leader of a care team, a manager in residential care involved in joint planning with other professionals, a professional with a social care, nursing, social work or related qualification, but without a recognised management qualification

It is for anyone who wants to make a difference to the way they work.
