Paula is our General Manager and Company Secretary. As such she is responsible for the day to day running of CTC and all strategic planning. Paula qualified as a Registered General Nurse (1st Level) in 1991.
Since then she has worked in a variety of nursing residential settings as a Senior Staff Nurse and then as a Nurse Manager for 12 years. Whilst managing nursing residential homes she has completed her NVQ Level 4 in Management and a Certificate in Management from the Institute of Management. She also achieved the D32, D33 and D34 Assessors’ and Verifiers’ Awards.
She has attended a variety of care courses over the years and also the Intermediate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. She has also completed an ESOL Introductory Certificate and her Professional Trainer Certificate.
Paula has also gained a certificate from Carlisle College, Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector.
Vanda is our IT and Support Services Co-ordinator and has over 20 years experience in administration and IT.
She originally trained with South West Business Services in Office Administration skills. Vanda worked for 14 years as a Supervisor where she gained knowledge in Administration, Time management/production, Customer Service and Accounts.
She is proficient in PowerPoint and Microsoft applications. She has completed her CIEH Professional Trainers Award, Certificate of Mastery in Web Design and Concepts of Graphics and Diploma certificate in Workplace Safety and Health. She is responsible for the development of the company website and has completed her SVQ Business and Administration Level 3 and 4.
Sheila is our Training Co-ordinator. Sheila qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1981. Since then she has worked in both the NHS and care home settings as a Staff Nurse then as a Nurse Manager for 16 years. Sheila has completed Level 4 in Management, HNC in Health and Social Care. Sheila is also a qualified Manual Handling and Manual Handling Passport Scheme Trainer and has her A1 Assessors Award. She has also attended a number of care courses which include intermediate certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and CIEH Training for Trainers certificate. She maintains her knowledge by updating herself yearly on relevant subjects necessary for her job..
Helen is one of our assessor/trainers and has worked in the care sector for almost 25 years, firstly in learning disabilities and then with people who had mental health problems. She worked in the NHS for 7 years, 5 of which were spent in Accident and Emergency. Later she worked in the community before entering the Residential Care Sector where she worked in care supervision and management. She has completed Health and Social Care Level 4, LMC and is a qualified SVQ assessor. Helen is also a qualified Manual Handling Passport Scheme Trainer. She believes in training and developing the workforce and regularly attends training and updates herself.
Fiona is one of our assessor/trainers. She qualified as a registered nurse in 1983. She has a clinical background in Critical Care before moving to Nurse Education as a lecturer in Health Studies within Bell College, Crichton Campus. Most recently Fiona was the Lead Nurse for Sexual Health D&G where she developed a wide knowledge in Sex & Relationships particularly relating to older adults, people with disability and Young People. Fiona has an Honors Degree in Health Service Management and a Post Graduate Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health. She keeps her knowledge up to date, regularly attending study days and conferences. She believes developing staff is key to improving care environments to have a positive impact on the quality of care provision.
