The Dumfries & Galloway Local Employability Partnership have created a number of paid work placements open to adults over 25 who have been unemployed for 12 months or more. There is a variety of opportunities across community organisations and D&G Council departments all designed to support clients to build skills, experience and confidence whilst earning an income.

*Placements will typically last 6 months – although full support and training will be provided to enable clients to move into full employment beyond the initial placement.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Job Title: Trainee Health and Social Care Trainer

Location: Dumfries

Organisation: Care Training & Consultancy CIC

Weekly Hours: 30 (Flexible)

Pay: Scottish Living Wage

Duration: 26 Weeks

Description

In this placement you will develop the skills to become a trainer in Health & Social Care. You will develop these skills through shadowing, mentor support, on the job learning and accredited training.

You would work closely with all members of the team but would have a particular close relationship with the classroom trainers. You can expect to develop skills and knowledge across the following:

  • Effective course delivery – applying teaching techniques
  • Group management and teamworking
  • Development of training course material

WHAT SKILLS ARE NEEDED

The purpose of this placement opportunity is to support you to develop your skills, confidence and qualifications to return to work. There are some requirements that are specific to this role / employer:

  • an interest in the care sector
  • willingness to learn and to teach others
  • good communication skills, and a willingness to be part of a team
  • must undertake a disclosure (PVG) check
