About this course
This (PDA) in promoting Excellence in Dementia Skilled Practice is 26 SCQF credits, 16 for the HN unit and 10 for the SVQ units at level 7. It is an SQA qualification for people working with those who have dementia, their families and carers. The qualification is designed to improve professional practisce, contribute to meeting the registartion requirments of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), and provide continuous professional development for employees.

Entry Requirements: Must be working within a care setting and support of a manager to undertake the award.

The target audience for this award includes the following groups, those affected by the requirements of the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC) register. Examples of the job roles candidates might currently hold include: Social Care Support Workers, Health Care Support Workers, Social Care Practitioners.
Qualification
On successful completion of this Professional Development Award (PDA) in Promoting Excellence in Dementia Skilled Practice at SCQF level 7, you gain 10 credits. This qualification has been designed to meet the requirments of social service workers who are in a job role where they assist in or administer Dementia Skilled Practice.
Content
To gain the Award, candidates must complete the following 3 units:-
- FY1D 34 Promoting quality of life through dementia skilled practise
- FY1E 34 Promoting relationships and net works through dementia skilled practise
- H5TV 04 Support individuals to identify and promote their own health and soacial well-being
Method
A mixture of independent and guided learning. This means you must be able to attend a half day online workshop plus once a fortnight for a minimum of 5-6 sessions. In between these sessions you will have some research/study/assignment work. Assesment is ongoing and will take form of written reflective accounts and observation in the workplace.
