How the course runs
- Welcome & theory presentations
The day opens with an introduction to first aid principles, responsibilities, anatomy, and the legal context. Delivered through clear, engaging presentations by an experienced instructor. - Practical demonstrations
Your instructor demonstrates key techniques, CPR, using a defibrillator, bleeding control, choking response, and more, before participants practise each skill hands-on in a safe environment. - Case studies and group discussions
Real-world scenarios and group discussions help participants apply their knowledge to workplace situations and build confidence in decision-making under pressure. - Continuous assessment
Throughout the day your instructor observes practical skills and checks understanding. There's no formal written exam, assessment is built into the activities you do during the course. - Certification
Participants who successfully complete the course receive an SCQF Level 6 certificate issued by NUCO Training, valid for three years.

Before you arrive
Wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear, you'll be taking part in practical exercises which may require lying and kneeling down on the floor throughout the day.
Certificate
CTC Certified for 3 years
Assessed through practical demonstrations and knowledge checks throughout the course. Successful completion earns a certificate valid for 3 years, and the training can be recorded as part of your SSSC Continuous Professional Learning (CPL). Renew through further training when your certificate expires.
Where it takes place
Training can be delivered at our Dumfries training facility or onsite at your organisation’s premises, with sessions available for up to 8 delegates.
